Sweetwater brewery was started by Freddy Bensch and Kevin Mcnerny. They were college friends who each had previous experience in the brewing field. They moved to Atlanta after the 1996 Olympics. The two friends leased a warehouse that was a previous 911 dispatch office. Soon they hired Matt Patterson as a sales director. Once the brewery started operating, they began advertising the brewery and promoting the beer. As of today the company brews 77,500 gallons of beer each week and has 84 employees. The brewery hosts events yearly for the community of Atlanta. The brewery has tastings and tours throughout the year and olds beer festivals such as The 420-Fest in which the bands play and comedians have shows for the community.
